Rocket Warhead charge
Hey everyone. Has anyone consider making a charge for a water rocket. I thought that maybe a hydrogen 2 /oxygen 1 might work. Like using a pyro rocket ingniter and lighting the combo of the gases on fire. The ingiter could be ignited using a crumble zone in the rocket that makes contact with aluminum foil. If I can fiugre it out I'll post a video.

Goes against all rules for rocketry and probably will get you a visit from homeland security.Water Rocket Expert wrote:Hey everyone. Has anyone consider making a charge for a water rocket. Wait, but I have blown up hyrdrogen oxygen balloons before. Are you saying we can't do electrolisis and blow it up. Lighting water on fire is illegal? Because that is what water is. Don't be stupid.

Attaching any kind of "warhead" to a model rocket is illegal. What you describe is exactly that.Water Rocket Expert wrote:Wait, but I have blown up hyrdrogen oxygen balloons before. I wouldn't recommend you try that. What if your arrest story got in the news and gave water rockets a bad name?

Re: Rocket Warhead charge
It's possible that someone would say that a black powder charge on a rocket that deploys a parachute would fall into the same category, but this type of charge is allowed and is legal because of the intended function. The explosive charge that is being discussed here is illegal because it does not serve any function other than to explode and worse yet, the design as described uses some kind of impact detonation system. This would qualify as a weapon, not a toy, and would be illegal.
If you are just doing this for fun or as a hobby, then you're basically depending on someone seeing what you;re doing as something other than a weapon system. That's a big risk. You're more likely to be "made an example of" and thrown in jail.

Re: Rocket Warhead charge
If everyone thinks this is a bad idea than I will take that advice and not do it. I didn't know this was illegal.
Thanks for letting me know!
